Welcome to the Institute for Innovation in Health and Human Services
Here at IIHHS we facilitate the creative connections that allow James Madison University to translate an urgent and compelling idea into practice. That idea is that the quality of health care and of human services depends on innovative and inclusive responses to the personal and community needs we confront. We know that professionals and practitioners for the future of health and human services in the U.S. and around the world are going to need a firm foundation in interdisciplinary, collaborative and interprofessional learning experiences. That future is our daily agenda!
The IIHHS cultivates a unique and exciting blend of courses, workshops, clinics and community outreach programs to offer the important service and research opportunities that give our graduates an added advantage. Also, through IIHHS the students and faculty have a direct and positive impact on people’s lives. In 2006-07, nearly 9,000 residents from the area surrounding JMU had the benefit of clinical services and/or outreach to children, families, older adults, migrant populations and those vulnerable to critical gaps in health care and community support.
While we are currently renovating our web site, we hope that you will find the links you need and discover why we are so pleased with the role of the Institute in the JMU challenge to “be the change.”
Fill out our email form if you are seeking more Institute information, and visit this site again soon to see what’s new.
