CPR Certification
CPR and First Aid Certification Opportunities at UREC (http://www.jmu.edu/recreation/aquatics/firstaid.shtml)
Following is information about sign up procedures, dates, etc. for CPR and First Aid certification and re-certification available through UREC. Sign up early, as classes get full.
To Register for Courses:
- All registration for UREC programs must be done in person at the UREC Welcome Center. Classes must be paid with FLEX only, no cash or checks. Classes have limited space and are filled on a first come first serve basis.
- *Classes fill quickly, it is recommended that students come to UREC ASAP to get into the class of their choice.
Class Options:
- CPR-PR: This class is a five-hour course for participants who have never been certified or people who need a review on their skills before the examination. You will be certified in Adult, Child, and Infant CPR, Rescue Breathing and Conscious and Unconscious Choking injuries. Written and practical skills test are included.
- CPR-PR Challenge: This class is a three-hour course for participants who have been certified before and are prepared to come in and demonstrate skills and take the written examination with no review.
- CPR-PR Sunday: This class provides training to people who are expected to respond to emergencies as part of their job duties. The class covers respiratory and cardiac emergency response. Multiple instructors will be on hand to work with up to 30 individuals.
- First Aid: This class provides training in recognizing an emergency situation and how to respond.
