Physical Therapy Articulation Information.
St. Francis University
James Madison University has a 4 + 3 articulation agreement with Saint Francis University.
The following criteria has been established and agreed upon between JMU and Saint Francis University:
- Each student at JMU who declares an intent to complete the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at Saint Francis University shall be co-advised by assigned members of the faculty from JMU and from Saint Francis University during his or her time at JMU.
- Up to three (3) JMU students may be guaranteed acceptance into the Saint Francis University Doctor of Physical Therapy program annually.
- Satisfactory completion of the following will be required prior to enrollment at Saint Francis University:
- A completed application received no later than October 15 th of a student’s senior year at JMU
- An overall grade point average of 3.0 and an earned bachelor’s degree
- A minimum 3.0 math/science GPA for the following prerequisites:
- 12 credits of biology, 8 of which must be anatomy and physiology
- 8 credits of chemistry with labs
- 8 credits of physics with labs
- 4 credits of exercise physiology with lab
- 9 credits of psychology
- 3 credits of statistics
- Maintenance of a good citizenship record as demonstrated by a strong letter of recommendation from the coordinator of the JMU pre-physical therapy program
- Completion of a total of 80 hours of documented volunteer or employed hours in at least two physical therapy settings, including one inpatient and one outpatient setting
- A letter of intent to enter the Saint Francis University Doctor of Physical Therapy program submitted by the end of the spring semester of the student’s junior year. The letter should be addressed to the Chair of the Department of Physical Therapy at Saint Francis University and should contain an official transcript and initial letter of endorsement from the director of the JMU pre-physical therapy program
- Any exceptions should have the advance approval of both institutions. Reasonable advance notice and acceptable exceptions will be determined by Saint Francis University.
- Students whose credentials do not meet the requirements that assure them automatic admission to the DPT program may still apply. They will be considered in relation to other qualified candidates in the general applicant pool.
